How It Works:

This choke is normally open — it allows extra fuel enrichment for starting when no power is applied. Once the engine starts and receives electricity, the heating element warms the wax motor, which slowly retracts the plunger and closes the enrichment circuit as the engine reaches operating temperature. If your scooter runs well for 2 minutes, then starts smoking or fouling plugs, the choke is likely stuck open and needs replacement.
